Application of hydrogen peroxide

Different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide have different applications

Generally, hydrogen peroxide with a low concentration (such as 3%) is mainly used for sterilization and external medical purposes, such as wound disinfection. The best ratio for testing blood: 6% hydrogen peroxide plus 0.005% methylene blue. Due to the easy dissolution of hydrogen peroxide, mixing hydrogen peroxide (referred to as Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide, or AHP) with interfacial activators can not only enhance the efficacy of sterilization, but also be used as a cleaning agent with bactericidal efficacy.

Higher concentrations (greater than 10%) are used as bleaching and deodorant in the textile, leather, paper, and wood manufacturing industries. Hydrogen peroxide is also a component of hair dyes, and is also used as a material for synthesizing organic raw materials (catechol), pharmaceuticals, metal surface treatment agents, polymerization initiators, and so on. It can also be used as a rocket propellant.
